Following the same process, Square Enix released a playable demo when the game was unveiled to the public. Thankfully, they’re taking a page out of the team who worked on Bravely Default 2. Some of the battles may also feel drawn-out and pointlessly long. Even with a speed-up function available, the game still feels sluggish. Some fans have complained that the game feels a bit slow, however. Mature audiences and fans of political intrigue will surely find their fill in this game. From what we’ve played so far, it’s a gritty tale of politics and warfare. The gameplay feels like a modern adaptation of Final Fantasy Tactics. Its graphics are very reminiscent of Octopath Traveler, another hit Square Enix game on the Nintendo Switch. The lengthy demo gives us a glimpse of what kind of game this will turn out to be. I just hope Serenoa's dubious voice actor doesn't spoil it.Thankfully, Square Enix was kind enough to give us a demo, which is out now on the Nintendo eShop. Regardless, the other trailer I linked above, which showcased various party members leaving you if your choices spurned them, ensures there'll be a ton of interesting variety. I suppose it could have more frequent but smaller branchings, but even the first one we're privy to seems fairly far-reaching. ![]() Obviously there are too many unknowns to call what Triangle Strategy's overall structure will look like. Tactics Ogre - its clear inspiration, IMO - was a fairly lengthy game, but it also had to tone down its multi-route ambitions with a reluctantly unified Chapter 4, so there were "only" around 2.5 routes in the end (Lawful CH2&3, Chaos CH2&3, and Neutral CH3). (This also might be corroborated by how small the known world map is.) Although with that prospect also comes some apprehension, since a narrative with tons of branching would likely necessarily have to be on the shorter side, lest it crumple under the scope of its ambitions. I'm very curious and excited about how much branching there seems to be in the game, seeing as these Scales of Conviction choices seem to be a major mechanic. Because it's starting to seem like playthroughs of this game might differ a lot. So, based on the bad Google translate, it seems like there's a branch in Chapter 8 as well (right after the branch in chapter 7 that's in the demo)? I wonder how many unique paths there'll end up being or if some choices will end up consolidating into a single path, because the demo branches had some pretty significant differences already and the story seemed to imply that it wasn't fixed even up until the point we started (there were references to a couple events that felt like they would've been branch points). Of course, this is based on very limited information and the actual game may end up with only a handful of differing scenarios based on choices made, and some battles may end up similar on different "routes" (kinda like how FE: TH does this) I'm fairly sure the devs have said the game would be fairly long even for a single playthrough but it also looks like a single playthrough may only be a fraction of the content. ![]() Click to shrink.So, based on the bad Google translate, it seems like there's a branch in Chapter 8 as well (right after the branch in chapter 7 that's in the demo)?
